WOODWARD 5437-1119 Safety backup module

WOODWARD 5437-1119 is an industrial-grade safety spare module of the ProTech-GII series, specifically designed for turbine and engine safety systems. It has two core functions: first, serving as a backup component for safety devices such as 8237-1226 Rev D and later models, 8237-1369, adapting to ProTech-GII voting relay panels; second, providing hardware and software adaptation solutions to support on-site upgrade of legacy ProTech-GII models to the latest version, which must comply with all improvement requirements listed in Woodward Product Change Notice 06912. The module integrates a hard PLC processor, adopts a modular structure and 2-out-of-3 voting architecture, and is equipped with a 4.2-inch display for parameter configuration and status monitoring. It has multiple protection functions including overspeed, overheating, and low oil pressure protection. The redundant design ensures the safety system continues to operate during single-module maintenance, serving as a key component for "safety redundancy-upgrade adaptation-fault tolerance" of power equipment.​

Product Performance​

Adopts 2-out-of-3 voting architecture for signal redundancy judgment, with fault detection response time ≤10ms. It can automatically shield abnormal signals when a single module fails, ensuring continuous operation of the safety system. Supports online replacement and maintenance; other components work normally during single-module maintenance without interrupting equipment operation.​

The hard PLC processor has a logic processing speed of 100ns/instruction, enabling rapid execution of complex safety control algorithms. The overspeed detection accuracy is ±0.1% rated speed, which can accurately trigger turbine shutdown protection. The communication interface data transmission delay is ≤50ms, fault information is uploaded to the monitoring system in real time, and diagnostic coverage is ≥99%.​

It maintains stable operation in the wide temperature range of -20°C to 60°C and under 0.04G²/Hz vibration conditions, meeting the sulfur resistance requirements of Class 3C2 environment. The Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) is ≥800,000 hours (MIL-HDBK-217F, 25℃ environment).​
